Hawaii chef Roy Yamaguchi will open a Roy's Beach House restaurant in the second quarter of 2016 at the Turtle Bay Resorts on Oahu's North Shore and take over the space now occupied by Ola, hotel representatives confirmed on Tuesday.
“Roy’s Beach House will be a magnificent new offering to our resort experience and will make staying here at Turtle Bay or spending a day on the North Shore even more unique and special,” Turtle Bay Resort Vice President and General Manager Danna Holck said in a statement on Tuesday.
On Monday, Fred DeAngelo confirmed to PBN that he and his wife, Cheryl, will s hutter his well-known Ola restaurant at the Turtle Bay Resort that overlooks Kuilima Cove on Dec. 15 after a decade in business.
Turtle Bay Resort said the concept for the menu and design of Roy’s Beach House is now underway, and the build-out of the new restaurant will begin in early 2016. More information about Roy’s Beach House, including the menu and official grand opening date, will be released at a later date.
Yamaguchi, who was traveling to Guam for business, could not be immediately reached for comment on Monday evening.
The James Beard Award-winning chef currently operates six restaurants in Hawaii and 21 more in seven other states.
